The sirens were growing louder with each passing second. Tyler knew the police were getting closer, and that soon they would catch up and take out the gang member driving the car. He also knew that at any moment, the deranged driver could pull out his pistol and kill him and Karly. Tyler just didn't know which would happen first.
He turned to Karly to see deep, crimson-colored blood rushing from the wound above her chin. She didn't stir.
Tyler started to turn his head toward the driver, but his world started getting hazy. The gang member flashed into the man with the knife who had chased him so many years ago, when he was just a little kid. He looked at Tyler with that insane grin.
Strange, disturbing images appeared out of nowhere. Demonic creatures swirling around in front of Tyler's eyes. People from Tyler's past resurfaced from the depths of his mind and stood in front of him. He wasn't in a speeding car with a girl he had just met and an twisted gang member anymore. He was in a land made up of his nightmares. What was happening? Why couldn't he control himself?
"Tyler! Get out of the car! You're going to die!!"
It was Karly. Tyler looked around, realizing that the nightmare had ended and that he was sitting in the back seat of that car again. Except there was something different. He was upside down In the front seat was the driver, an airbag pressed against his face, blood all over his shirt. But Karly was gone.
Tyler looked out his window and saw her trying to pry his smashed door open from the outside. Their car had been flipped onto its roof. Another car, about ten feet away, was pretty much crushed, thick black smoke spewing from its engine.
"Tyler!! Get out!!" Karly shrieked again.
Tyler meant to say, "Yeah, I'm trying," but instead, it came out as a groan. He fumbled around with his seat belt as the sound of sirens grew closer and several car doors slammed shut.
There were shouts, and Karly yelled, "No! Tyl--"
But there was a jarring impact and Tyler's eyes went black.

Chapter Six.
Tyler Was breathing as easy as he could. Which, I may dare to remind you that, It was not easy to breath to calmly while your being threatened by a dangerous, bloodthirsty gang member.
Karly on the other hand, was Shaking, and whining quitetly, while silent tears stained her brushed on blushed cheeks. Her fingernails gripped the seat.
Tyler realized why the gang member had targeted her, and her Brother. They had money. Tyler also realized that greed is one of the reasons that the world isn't peaceful. Now, He ddin't know what to do. Tyler's hand was getting sweaty in his poket from werhe he was holding his phone. He knew that the operator on the other end could hear ever word. If only This stranger was talking.
And as a thousand thoughts raced through his stumbled mind, His hand started to shake. his eyes started blurring the already chaotic scene.
And after what Felt for years and years Tyler woke up to the sound of sirens and the swearing of this stranger in the front. And as he looked over he felt panic take over his chest.
"Karly?" He whispered. His voice shaky, even though he was barley speaking.
Karly, with her head titled onto the window, showed no signs of hearing. Blood had been spilled onto her shirt. From a large cut just above her chin bone.
"She's not dead shithead. Passed out." The stranger said gruffly. And then he turned around.
"you called the police?"
"N..no..No." Stammered Tyler, as his heart raced and his mind mushed into nothing.
"Well, good fellow, your as good as dead anyways." The stranger, with his peircing blue eyes, laughed. And sped from the Sirens.

Chapter 5
The driver was one of the gang members that Karly's brother had owed money too. When Karly realized it was him she let out a bloodcurdling scream. Tyler just looked back and forth at the two not totally understanding what was going on. He quickly whipped out his cell phone and started to dial.
"You finish that call and it'll be the last call you ever make," the man said through gritted teeth.
Tyler slowly shut his phone and stuck it in his pocket. He kept his hand inside right next to it and slid his thumb in between the two parts of his phone. He dialed 911 and waited.
After awhile the gang member began to speak. "Well, well, I finally have you. Do you realize how long it took any of us to find you? You're going to do what I say exactly how and I say it, got it?" he barked, "Now as for you, you're going to keep your mouth shut until we get where we're going. When we get there, you better not try anything funny, or else."
After he said that,he pulled out a pistol to show them he wasn't fooling around. Little did he know that the police were listening to everything he said and tracking them down as he spoke.

Chapter 4
Tyler wasn't in a bad part of the city, so he didn't expect what he was seeing. He had to do something, he couldn't let this happen to someone else.
"You stupid girl!" The man screamed in the womans face. She was in her midtwenties and was very thin. "I told you that if you told anyone about your brother being shot I'd Kill you!"
"I....I didn't mean it! It just slipped out! I swear!" She sobbed.
Tyler walked behind the man and waited. He was breathing quietly and waiting. just waiting for the move.
"You think you can just get away with it, telling like that? Your death will be slow and painful. Do you hear me?" He spat at her.
She closed her eyes and stopped fighting. She was giving up! Tyler widened his eyes and the man reached into his pocket and pulled out a small sharp knife. Tyler swung his laptop around, and as strong as his little arms could brought in down on the mans head. The man staggard backwards and turned around to face tyler.
"RUN!" Tyler choked out. He ran toward the woman and grabbed her arm and started to pull. They had to get away he thought.
He hoped to god that the man didn't have a gun.
When they got a safe distance away, he turned to talk to the woman. She didn't look much older that he was, but she seemed to be mad at him.
"You fool! Your endangering yourself and anyone who is around us!" She cursed.
"I know." Tyler whispered becuause people were looking at them.
"No, you don't." She hissed. "You couldn't possibly."
"What, was your brother into to a money problem, didn't come up with the cash, was murdered and then he's coming after you, and won't stop until your killed?" Tyler asked.
She looked at him, and then looked away. "It's almost like that. It was an affair though. He wants everyone to do with my brother gone, that way nobody will help us. Becuase we'll be dead." She sighed.
"Hummhm. I see. You should get out of the city...uhm, what is your name anyway?" Tyler pondered. And then he wondered why he was always getting into risky situations.
"Karly" She answered. "Yours?"
"Tyler. Nice to meet you." Tyler laughed.
"Is it funny?" She wondered angrily.
"No, it's just funny how I'm always in a situation." He chuckled. He was glad he was easy going.
"Oh."
She started walking out, so he followed, not really sure if he should or not, but he was going to, just to make sure that she would be okay. She summonded a taxi and he opened the door.
"Why are you with me?" She asked.
"Becuase. You need to get out of the city, far away. I know how these people work. Get what you can and get out. I'm here to help." Tyler answered. "Deal with it."
"168 street." She direected the driver.
They were quite unil they got there. Amazingly they arrived without any problem. The city wasn't as busy today. They arrived at a building close to the hospital where he was studying for the time he was here.
Tyler reached for his wallet, threw 3 twenties at the driver, and reached for the handle.
click. The door locked. The driver turned around and the Karly drew in her breath...

Chapter 3
As Tyler sat up in bed, the horrible events that took place in his dream ran through his mind again, like he was watching a terrifying movie for the second time.
Tyler's tiny legs propelled him at full speed. All he knew was that he was being chased by a bad, bad man. He didn't know why the man had come for him. He didn't know who the man was. Tyler just had to get away.
His heart pounding in his chest, Tyler turned a corner and darted into the woods. After a few minutes of running, jumping, and dodging through trees, Tyler stopped for a short rest. The incessant thud-thud of his pursuer's feet stomping the wet ground behind him had ceased minutes ago. Just to make sure that he was as far away from the man as possible, young Tyler had kept running.
And now, there was silence. His eyes scanned the forest around him. There was no sign of the man that had chased after him.
But, as he was pondering what to do, he heard the unmistakable snap of a twig being stepped on. At that sound, his heart almost leaped into his throat, but he forced himself to spin around.
As he had guessed, the man was directly behind him. He held a wicked knife in one hand and there was a demented grin on his face.
...And that was where his dream had ended. Even though this experience had happened to him years and years ago, the images were still vivid in his mind. Nightmares came almost every night. They were getting almost unbearable.
Looking at his watch, Tyler realized that it was almost 5:00 in the morning. There would be no hope of ever getting back to sleep, so he clambered out of bed at that moment.
Later that day, he was hunting for a decent hot dog, when he came up to a stand saying "Best In New York! Buy 3 Dogs And Get A Free Coke!" Tyler couldn't resist the offer.
The stand wasn't too far from Central Park, so he strolled over to the park and sat down on a large boulder on one side of the lake. There, he finished his meal. As he was getting ready to leave, his cell phone buzzed in his pocket.
He flipped it open. Sam was on the phone.
"Wassup, man? You left without telling me and the rest of us."
"Sam, I had to leave. I was getting sick of you guys. I seriously needed a break," Tyler explained.
"Dude, you can't take a joke!" Sam laughed. "We were just messin' around. You freak out over nothing!"
"It's not funny, Sam. You know I don't like that kind of stuff. I hate it when--"
"Wow, I can't believe you, man. We were just havin' fun. You don't have to take everything so seriously! You're so paranoid!!" Sam interrupted.
"Shut up, Sam," Tyler growled, hanging up. Tyler wanted to say so much more, but this wasn't the time. He was in the NYC to relax.
But, at that moment, Tyler saw something that ruined any relaxation he hoped to have...

chapter 2.
Tyler left his dorm after that night to go to new york city for a week or two. He needed to get out of the dorm and away from college life. It was just too much for him. Sam was just bugging the crap out of him, and all of his friends. He couldn't stand the horrible dreams and the people that were always following around. Tyler swore that they hid in the shadows becuase nobody else could ever see them.
Tyler was startled by the sudden vibration of his phone is his pocket. Nobody ever called him.
"Hello?" tyler answered near the hospital.
"Hey, it's Chris!" His sister giggled.
"Oh, hello sis...how are you?" Tyler inquired.
"Alright, are you in nyc?" She wondered.
"Mhm, I"m walking past Columbia Prebytarian at the moment."
"oh, well I have to go...I'm off with a bunch of friends. party stuff, you know." She replied quickly.
"bye. I'll call you later." Tyler closed his phone.
He had arrived at the starbucks that was right by the hospital and ordered a frech vanilla capp.
He swore that the city ran on caffine. Of course it was the city that never sleeps. What did he expect?
He walked out of the starbucks, and not paying attention, ran into a sophisticated woman.
"Excuse me?" She snarled.
"Sorry, I'm preoccupied." apologized Tyler.
"Wait, aren't you Tyler Smith from Mansfeild University?" she asked...
"Uhm, yes....Why do you ask?" Tyler pondered.
"Your a great author! I read your blog all the time." She laughed. "Nice to finally meet you!"
and she shook his hand.
"Oh, of course. You read my life you mean." Tyler chuckled.
"I didn't realize that you were so young." She pointed out.
"Yes ma'm." He answered. "I must be on my way, but you always know where to find me." Tyler excused him self.
And he walked, until he reached a cafe with wi-fi and entered, and he started writing on his blog.
"The city that never sleeps, always eats and runs of caffine. Here I am! I actually met one of my followers today. Very very coincedental....yawn, I'm going to get some rest. Chow."
A few hours later he woke up startled and sweating. But he was cold...that was the most horrible dream...

"Damn it!" Tyler swore. He cut his finger and the crimson red blood was seeping through the slit. He never could seem to keep himself safe. He was constantly falling down and cutting himself, or dropping things and hitting his head. He turned when he felt a hand sternly grip his shoulder.
"Don't touch me Sam!" He screamed. "You know how that bothers me!"
"Dude, chillax would you? Your so paranoid. Chill." Sam chuckled under his breath.
Tyler grumbed and went back to cutting his medicine in half. Of course they were anxiety pills, god knows he needed them just to get through a regular day in school, much less the weekend with his prank pulling friends. His stupid friends. He sighed, and wished he could go back to his childhood innocence.
"Hey, Sam?" Tyler questioned into the dark hallway...
"Dude, what do you want?" Sam answered.
"Grab me a beer, would you?" Tyler seriously needed something to cool his nerves.
After a couple of minutes and Sam didn't come back into the kitchen, Tyler went to the hallway and searched for the light switch. Then he decided that he could walk through the dark without being scared. He sighed again, it happened almost four years ago, why should he even be scared? So he walked, not at a normal speed, may I mention, but almost at a jogging rate. He hated the darkness with such an intense passion. His heartrate quickened.
"BOO!" screeched Sam.
And Tyler fainted.
"Ohhh dude, he fainted guys! Aw fuck, we better put him on the couch, he's gunna be pissed when he wakes up." someone said, over the riot of the others laughing.
It't black outside and Tyler is running. Running away from the man chasing him through the dark hallways. And he trips over something. He reaches on the wall, his hand frantically searching the texutred painted sheetrock for the small plastic switch that would end the darkness engulfing him. And when he reaches it, his eyes flutter open and he's being shaken by Sam.
"Wake up dude, you fainted, here." Sam handed him a joint. "It'll make you feel better dude."
"Sam, thanks, but you know I don't smoke weed." Tyler coughed and choked on the smoke.
"Ohh, alright dude, I forgot." Sam apologized but sucked in on the roll.
"RUN! He's coming for you Sam! Watch out behind you!" Tyler was screaming his head off.
Sam turned around and looked..."Dude, no one's there dude."
Tyler pushed Sam out of the way and stumbled to the ground. He was beating the floor relentlessly until Sam restrained him.
"Dude, chill, take a puff dude." Sam urged him.
And Tyler sucked in a long breath, and passed the joint back.
